Course of
Bresson
This 18-hole course, in its exceptional setting between
the massifs of
Belledonne, Chartreuse and Vercors, is highly popular with demanding
golfers from way beyond the Grenoble area. |
 |
Designed
by Robert Trent Jones Jr,
the world-famous American architect, it is technically demanding
and wonderfully strategic. You will be entranced by its setting,
but you need to be very level-headed to master it. Though spectacular,
it does not
surrender easily.
|
 |
With
a sensible choice of starting tee and a dose of good judgment
in your swing you will have the keys to an unforgettable day.
 |
Large greens, wide and comfortable
fairways, loads of bunkers, neatly placed butts, everything you
need to revise your stroke.
|
 |
A championship course in the grandest
of settings. Don't
let the game distract you from the sights before your eyes: The
first 5 holes wind around pools and wide fairways against a backdrop
of the magnificent massif of Belledonne.
Connoisseurs will recognise the slopes where JC Killy won the
Olympic gold medal and on the left the favourite itinerary of
local ramblers the Grand Collon. At the
top of the course you can admire the natural barrier formed by
the Vercors massif, historical shrine of our ancestors' exploits.
At the start of hole 7, you can, with a stretch
of the imagination, see the fairways of the Corrençon.
Two outstanding moments: stroke 2 of hole 9 where you get the
impression your drive will reach the middle of Grenoble down
below, and the little Par 4 hole 10, a little nest tucked into
a pocket of greenery. The final section runs over
all these features again with the addition of the third Grenoble
massif, famous for its liqueur Chartreuse. Don't
go past the fairway of hole 13 without a visit to the little
butt on the right; go up to the top and have a look round: "Ah,
if paradise looked like that!" |
|
As usual, Trent
Jones kept the best for the end. Technique, tactics, beauty,
danger, water nothing is missing. So pay attention and let yourself
be carried by the acclaim of the crowd calling for your last
winning birdy.
|
Was
it a dream? No! You just
played a round on the Bresson course. And by the way, did you
notice that, at each hole, the architect designed the butts on
the greens to follow the line of the horizon?
A
great moment you are not likely to forget. |
